Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has his sights set on next year’s 50-over In ICC 2023 World Cup in India, and is looking for a successful campaign.

Since the 2013 Champions Trophy, Shikhar Dhawan has been a key asset to the Indian ODI setup. He has lost his place in the Test and T20I formats, but remains an important part of the Indian ODI squad. He recently captained the Indian team in the last ODI series against the West Indies.

Dhawan loves playing in ICC tournaments, and wants to do well in the next 2023 World Cup as well. He has scored 6493 ODI runs at an average of 45.51 thanks to 17 centuries and 27 fifties. Dhawan was supposed to lead the Indian team in Zimbabwe too, but KL Rahul is fit, and will now lead the team.

Shikhar Dhawan has been one of India’s best performers in ICC tournaments. In the 2019 World Cup, he looked in great touch, but was ruled out of the tournament due to a finger injury.

Dhawan has said that he loves playing in ICC tournaments, and there is always a certain satisfaction when doing well in big tournaments. However, he insists that this is how he prepares for every type of tournament. Dhawan believes that he now has the experience to handle stressful situations.

“I love playing in ICC 2023 World Cup. There is always a different feeling and satisfaction and I have played very good tournaments in the past. I prepare and approach every tournament in exactly the same way,” Shikhar Dhawan told The Times of India.

“Whenever I wear the Indian jersey, the pressure is always there and the thing is, as an experienced player, I know how to handle the pressure.”

Dhawan said he wants to play as many matches as possible before the home World Cup next year. Apart from ODIs, his aim is to perform well in domestic ODIs as well as IPL.
